The bark is used for the preparation of homoeopathic mother tincture. It is covered by Homoeopathic Pharmacopoeia of India. It was proved and introduced by Dr. Hale and Clarke.

Homeopathically it is indicated in respiratory difficulty. A known homoeopathic physician Dr. Hale says that it relieves breathing troubles in phthisis and pleurisy, but without influencing the fever. It stimulates the respiration centers and increases oxygen in the blood. It is also used in pulmonary stenosis, thrombosis of pulmonary artery and uraemic dyspnoea. Want of breath during exertion is the guiding indication for prescribing this remedy.
