It is reported to be useful in complaints of heart and arteries especially that at once respond to the influence of Cactus, producing very characteristic constrictions as of an iron band. This sensation is found in various places, ?sophagus, bladder, etc. The mental symptoms produced correspond to those found when there are heart affections, sadness, and melancholy. Haemorrhage, constrictions, periodicity, and spasmodic pains. Whole body feels as if caged, each wire being twisted tighter. Atheromatous arteries and weak heart.Congestions; irregular distribution of blood.Favors formation of clots speedily.Great periodicity.Toxic goitre with cardiac symptoms.

This remedy acts well on smooth muscles especially of heart and blood vessels. There is a sensation of constrictions as if from an iron band accompanying the symptoms. Haemorrhage, spasmodic pains, constrictions and periodicity are the marked features of this remedy. It favours formation of clotting easily and hence stops bleeding.

Head: It is indicated for right sided headache with sensation of weight on vertex. Congestive periodical headche with pulsating pain, feels as if head were compressed in a vise. Constricting pains with pulsation in ears and dim sight, threatening to loss of consciousness. Blood vessels in the head feels distended.

Heart: Inflammation of the heart with valvular insufficiencies and violent palpitation. Weakness of heart from blockage of the blood vessels from taking tobacco. Violent palpitation which is worse from lying on left side and at the approach of menses. Pain in the chest with suffocation, cold sweat and constricted sensation. Pain in the apex shooting down the left arm. Dizziness, difficulty in breathing from collection of gas in the abdomen. Pulse is feeble, irregular, quick and weak. Acute pains and stitches in the heart with low blood pressure.

Chest: Constricted feeling of the chest with oppressed breathing as if from the weight on the chest. Constriction of heart as if from an iron band. Inflammation of diaphragm with great difficulty in breathing. Pain in the chest with spitting of blood and convulsive, spasmodic cough.

Urinary system: Constriction of the neck of bladder which causes retention of urine. Bleeding from bladder with clots of blood in urethra and frequent urination.

Female: Painful menses with pulsating pain in uterus and ovaries. Constricted feeling in the uterine region and ovaries. Menses early, dark and pitch-like which ceases on lying down. The menstrual complaints are associated with heart troubles. Passage of flatus through vagina.
